Tanukanji is a language-learning app designed to help users learn and master kanji through efficient spaced repetition quizzes and fun lessons.
Yes! A free Tanukanji membership grants access to your first 200 items, which is more than enough to help you pass the JLPT N5. Affordable subscriptions are also available for those that want unlimited access to the site.
We are currently available only as a web app, which means you need a browser to access it. However, you can use any device to access it, whether its a phone, tablet, computer, or something else!
We currently offer three membership options: Dabbler, Adventurer, and Conqueror. Dabbler is our free plan, and it helps you get started learning kanji. For those that want unlimited access to our learning material, Adventurer is the plan for you. We recommend this plan to most folks. The Conqueror plan is for those serious about advanced language learning tools like AI.
We recommend the Adventurer plan for you! This is our most affordable paid plan and grants you unlimited access to all of our items.
Yes! Simply go to the Pricing page and select the plan you'd like to switch to. Your membership cost will be prorated.
Yep! You can continue using Tanukanji until it expires.

Usage

The first thing you should do after signing up is check out the Academy! This is where you can learn more about Tanukanji's usage and functionality. It kinda shows you how to use it effectively.

It depends on your settings! By default, your "Lesson Batch Size" is set to 10. If you want to go faster, feel free to increase it. Just make sure to pace yourself! As you master the new material you learn, your lesson queue will free up and you'll be able to do more lessons.
Yup! Just head over to "Profile" -> "Test Out", then mark the items you know with the appropriate difficulty levels. You can use the arrow buttons to view more items.
